最近報告が増加している本船PCのハードドライブ容量逼迫によるトラブル事例についてご案内いたします。
【事例】
お客様より、本船メールの送受信ができなくなるとのトラブル報告を頂きました。
弊社IT技術チームが調査した結果、PCのハードドライブの空き容量不足に起因してPCのパフォーマンスが低下、本船メールソフトが正常動作しない状態となっていました。
【原因：なぜドライブの空き容量が不足したか？】
①Windowsバージョンアップ
Windowsは、新バージョンリリース後からバージョンアップを繰り返し行います。それに伴いシステムや各種設定が変更され、公式発表のよりも実際に使用するドライブ容量は大きくなっている傾向が見られます。
②各システム要求のスペックの増加
近年、本船PCには、通信、Eメールだけでなく、各種システムやソフトウェア（電子海図/書籍、気象/海象データ、船舶管理システム、モニタリングシステム等）が導入されています。それらが要求するPCスペックが高まっていると同時に使用するドライブ容量も増加しています。
各種システムをインストールした初期出荷段階で既に80％程の容量を消費してしまい、すぐに容量を使い切りPCが問題を起こすケースもあります。
【対策】
同様のトラブルを防ぐ為に取れる対策としては下記が挙げられます。
- ①ディスククリーンアップ
- ②休止ファイルの削除
- ③仮想メモリ容量の変更
- ④Windows Search Indexの再構築
- ⑤ドライブのシャドウコピーの停止と削除
- ⑥復元ポイントの削除と再構築
- ⑦充分な容量（500GB以上）のPCを使用
【推奨】
弊社では、昨今の海運用ソフトウエアの使用データ大容量化を受けて、特にメインPC（EメールPC）に関しては、原則500GB以上のドライブストレージを搭載したPCを使用することを推奨いたします。また、各専門システム・ソフトウエアを導入・使用される場合には、求められるPC仕様要件をサービスプロバイダー様にご確認ください。

Computer drives free space shortage problem

We would like to introduce some cases of the computer drives free space shortage problem, which is an inquiry we frequently receive these days.
The rise in the number of cases
We receive many inquiries from vessels that have problems receiving and sending emails on their computer. Our IT technical team has found out that the problems were caused by the low performance of the computer due to the computer drives free space shortage.
Why computer drives free space shortage happened
A. Windows version update
Windows continues to update its version from the date of the release. More drives space is used up by this update, and the space consumption tends to be higher than the official information.
B. Required spec of computer
More software for other than network and email are introduced to vessel computers these days. For example, chart, documents, meteorologic/hydrographic information, vessel management system, monitoring system etc.
All those software used in the marine industry tends to require higher spec computers than the past, and more drives space is needed proportionately.
Problem occurs since there are cased that nearly 80% of the drives space is used up after installing all the required system before start using the computer.
Countermeasures
- a. Disks clean up
- b. Delete hibernation file
- c. Chang size of virtual memory
- d. Recreate Windows Search Index
- e. Disable shadow copy of drives data
- f. Delete and recreate restore point
- g. Use computers with sufficient (500GB) data space
Recommendation
In the context of the movement of software capacity enlargement, we recommend computers with over 500GB drives storage, especially for the main email computer. Also, to prevent troubles from occurring in advance, please confirm the required computer spec of each system, software to providers before purchasing.
We provide computers that are kitted especially for vessel usage.
For example, we delete the software that are unnecessary for vessels, create appropriate restore point and division of drives.
